Unionville Center is a village of about 240 residents in Darby Township, Union County, one of the smallest incorporated places we cover in the metro. It was laid out and platted in 1847 under the name Unionville, incorporated in 1879, and has run its own post office since 1848. The village is best known locally for hosting the annual Charles W. Fairbanks Festival each May, named for the Union County-area politician who served as U.S. Vice President under Theodore Roosevelt — a rare bit of national political history tied to a village this small.

Unionville Center today is almost entirely residential, without commercial senior-care infrastructure of its own.
