Kirker platted the village in 1832 along the South Fork of the Licking River, and it has stayed small and residential ever since — recent population estimates put it at roughly 480 people. It's a quiet crossroads village today, with a handful of small local businesses along Main Street and modest single-family housing rather than any recent subdivision growth.
