Senior Care in Buckeye Lake, Ohio

A lake resort village spanning the Fairfield/Licking county line, built around one of central Ohio's largest reservoirs.

Buckeye Lake is a village of about 2,520 residents (2020 census) built along the shore of the reservoir of the same name, straddling the Fairfield and Licking county line roughly 30 miles east of downtown Columbus — the lake itself extends far enough east to touch Perry County too, though the village proper sits in Fairfield and Licking. The reservoir began as a feeder lake for the Ohio and Erie Canal in the 1820s-30s, and for much of the 20th century the shoreline was home to Buckeye Lake Park, a popular amusement park that drew visitors from across the region until it closed in the mid-1970s.

Today Buckeye Lake is primarily a boating and cottage community, with a mix of seasonal camps and year-round homes. A meaningful share of year-round residents are retirees who bought lake property decades ago as a vacation home and have since settled there full-time, which makes local senior care planning a real, recurring need rather than a hypothetical one, even though the village itself is small.
