In practice, two free tools are worth checking together rather than relying on just one. Ohio's own Long-Term Care Quality Navigator is a state-run dashboard that covers both nursing homes and assisted living/residential care facilities statewide. The federal Medicare Care Compare tool, at medicare.gov/care-compare, covers Medicare and Medicaid-certified nursing homes specifically, with detailed health and safety citation histories and staffing data. Since a license alone doesn't tell you much about a specific community's actual care quality, we'd also encourage asking a Columbus-area facility directly about its most recent survey results and any corrective actions during a tour, rather than relying only on the published record.
