Harrisburg is a village of about 315 residents (2020 census) that sits directly across the Franklin and Pickaway county line, roughly 18 miles southwest of downtown Columbus. Joseph Chenowith founded the village in 1836, and Frederick Cole surveyed and platted it, naming it after Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It's a quiet, small rural village today — modest housing, no significant commercial development — surrounded on all sides by farmland typical of this stretch between Franklin County's southwestern suburbs and Pickaway County's agricultural interior.
