It's grown modestly rather than explosively — the 2020 census counted 924 residents, with recent estimates putting the village just over 1,000 — and its character owes more to the reservoir and surrounding scenic trails than to the subdivision growth reshaping Sunbury and Powell elsewhere in the county. Galena sits close enough to Westerville, just across the Franklin County line, that many residents treat the two as a single area for shopping, dining, and services.
