Obetz is a village in Franklin County just south of downtown Columbus, wedged between the Scioto River and Rickenbacker International Airport. It's grown quickly over the past several years — the 2020 census counted 5,489 residents, and more recent estimates put the village well above that as new residential development has filled in around the older village center. Obetz has a strong local identity built around its Fourth of July celebration, the Star Spangled Spectacular, which the village has branded itself the "Fireworks Capital of America" around for decades.

Like much of the area around Rickenbacker, Obetz's economy has shifted toward logistics and distribution in recent years, alongside its longer history as a small, close-knit Franklin County village.
